APRIL 20, 2024

8:00am - 2:00pm

The Stafford Community Wide Cleanup invites all citizens to join in a grassroots spring-cleaning movement on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Families, friend groups, neighbors, civic organizations, and businesses are invited to join forces by picking up litter from yards, parks, streets, open spaces, waterways, and other public areas. All registered participants will receive free cleanup supplies  and access to no-cost event day trash disposal. Volunteers are encouraged to choose a location that is important to them.

The goal is to help beautify our town, unify neighbors for a rewarding and productive day, and make Stafford a more enjoyable place to live and play!

Everyone that participates in cleaning efforts is also invited to attend a celebratory appreciation picnic in Hyde Park from 12:00pm - 2:00pm with food, music, and Earth Day-inspired activities. The Community-Wide Cleanup is hosted by the Town of Stafford Events & Celebrations Committee, in collaboration with local civic organizations and commissions. If your group or business wants to get involved, please reference the "Picnic in the Park" panel on this page.

THINGS TO CONSIDER...

  • We are asking our volunteers to pick up any litter or debris that can be easily picked up without harming yourself or others.

  • It is important to note that the bags should be used only to clean up litter and trash -- no personal household items or yard waste.

  • Be sure to wear bright-colored clothes and watch out for traffic, if you choose to clean a roadway.

  • Where should I clean?  Feel free to clean along the road where you live, a public park, green space or trail. Please see the map above for locations that have been previously registered.

  • Kids are encouraged to help, but please keep them safe and off busy roads. Consider cleaning parks and paths instead. If you have a large group - such as a Scout Troop or youth organization - and would like assistance finding an appropriate location, please call 860-851-8102.

  • If you see a tire or other large item on the roadside during the event on April 20, please report the item by call or texting 860-331-0243.

The goal is to cleanup as much of the Stafford as possible, improve aesthetics and bolster civic pride!

With questions, assistance with registration, to make alternate arrangements for supply pickup, or to get your group/business involved in the Community-Wide Cleanup activities,

please email events@staffordct.org  or call 860-851-8102
