8:00am - 2:00pm
The Stafford Community Wide Cleanup invites all citizens to join in a grassroots spring-cleaning movement on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Families, friend groups, neighbors, civic organizations, and businesses are invited to join forces by picking up litter from yards, parks, streets, open spaces, waterways, and other public areas. All registered participants will receive free cleanup supplies (through support of The Last Green Valley) and access to no-cost event day trash disposal. Volunteers are encouraged to choose a location that is important to them.
The goal is to help beautify our town, unify neighbors for a rewarding and productive day, and make Stafford a more enjoyable place to live and play!
Everyone that participates in cleaning efforts is also invited to attend a celebratory appreciation picnic in Hyde Park from 12:00pm - 2:00pm with food, music, and Earth Day-inspired activities. The Community-Wide Cleanup is hosted by the Town of Stafford Events & Celebrations Committee, in collaboration with local civic organizations and commissions. If your group or business wants to get involved, please reference the "Picnic in the Park" panel on this page.
HOW IT WORKS
Work solo, meet up with friends or organize a group! Assemble your clean team and pick a location of your choice, then register online.
You’ll be asked to submit some contact information, approximate number of participants in your cleanup crew, and selected cleanup site. Registration is used to track progress and distribute supplies. Please see the map below for locations that have been previously registered. REGISTER HERE
Participant check-in is from 8:00am – 10:00am on April 22 in Hyde Park in Downtown Stafford. At this time, volunteers and groups will receive their cleanup kits and invited to enjoy coffee and donuts provided by the Stafford Lions Club. Participants also have the option to pick up supplies in advance at Town Hall on Thursday, April 20 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.
Once you've collected litter and debris from your registered location, collection bags may be returned for free disposal between 8:00am and 2:00pm on April 22. Participants are then invited to an appreciation picnic in the park, happening from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. Enjoy food, music, and activities!
Some of Stafford’s youngest residents recently created original artwork to help promote the Community-Wide Cleanup and remind citizens to help "Keep Stafford Beautiful." Thank you to all our youth artists who submitted designs and helped to bring awareness to this spring-cleaning Earth Day event! Congratulations to the winners, with special appreciation extended to the Rotary Club of Stafford CT and Stafford Lions Club for sponsoring this special project.
PICNIC IN THE PARK!
After the work is done, you're invited for a Volunteer Appreciation Picnic in the Park from 12:00pm - 2:00pm with food, music, and hands-on Earth Day activities.

THINGS TO CONSIDER...
We are asking our volunteers to pick up any litter or debris that can be easily picked up without harming yourself or others.
It is important to note that the bags should be used only to clean up litter and trash -- no personal household items or yard waste.
Be sure to wear bright-colored clothes and watch out for traffic, if you choose to clean a roadway.
Where should I clean? Feel free to clean along the road where you live, a public park, green space or trail. Please see the map above for locations that have been previously registered.
Kids are encouraged to help, but please keep them safe and off busy roads. Consider cleaning parks and paths instead. If you have a large group - such as a Scout Troop or youth organization - and would like assistance finding an appropriate location, please call 860-851-8102.
If you see a tire or other large item on the roadside during the event on April 22, please report the item by call or texting 860-331-0243.
The goal is to cleanup as much of the Stafford as possible, improve aesthetics and bolster civic pride!
